She was born on March 8, 1944 in Manchester, the daughter of Primo and Lillian (Dubaldo) Amadeo. Linda spent the majority of her career traveling the world as an editor and co-founder of Human Development magazine. Through her work and travels, she made many lifelong friends and was dedicated to maintaining contact with them and their organizations.
Linda delighted in sharing her love of travel with her family. Together, she and her sister, niece and grandnephews traveled to Rome, enjoying as much gelato as possible while seeing the sights. She hosted her niece and great niece in Colorado where they drove into the Rocky Mountains searching for snow in July (which they found!). She brought both nieces to Europe in their teen years, making sure to incorporate a reasonable dose of culture along with lots of great food, sightseeing and shopping. A life long learner, Linda was a proud alumnus of Boston College, where she received her Master's Degree in Nursing. She was adamant that Boston College was the best university in Boston and would have many playful exchanges with her beloved grandniece, Cassie, who had graduated from rival Boston University.
Linda's wanderlust made her an ideal companion for adventure. She was a great copilot on any road trip. She always gave the best directions, maintaining a calm disposition while others were driving. Linda loved theater and Broadway shows were among her favorites. Linda was very proud of her nieces, Kate and Tara, and grand nephews Andrew and Patrick, and grandniece Cassie. Her eyes lit up with joy and pride whenever she spoke of any of them. They all loved going out for lunches or dinners with her and she always made sure everyone had dessert, even if it was 'just a bite'.
Linda is survived by her dear best friend and sister Gemma Sullivan and her husband John L. Sullivan of Venice, FL; niece Kate Sullivan and her husband Robert Russo of Old Saybrook, grandnephews Andrew Faria of Bradenton, Florida and Patrick Faria, and niece Tara Sullivan and Richard Splain of Clinton and grandniece Cassie McKiernan. Linda has many cousins who were friends in addition to being family. Linda also had many friends who she loved like family.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 1st at 11am in St. Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Ave., Niantic.
Linda's family is most thankful for the exceptional care she received while she was a patient at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital's ICU. The extraordinary nursing staff provided Linda with comfort, which in turn gave her family peace of mind knowing that she was in good care. In lieu of flowers, Linda would want you to express your love to those you value.
