Paul V. Dolan, age 72, of Grand Bahama Island and Rochester, Vermont, formerly of Old Lyme, CT., died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Dartmouth – Hitchcock Medical Center on May 28, 2012. Paul was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Mary Sullivan and Thomas Dolan. He was a graduate of Classical High School, and Middlebury College in 1961. During his sophomore year, Paul married Marlene Walters, his best friend, and the love of his life for 52 years. After college, Paul served in the United States Army as a second lieutenant in the 82nd Airborne, stationed in California and Washington. He started his career as a Production Manager in 1963 with Chesebrough-Pond’s in Clinton, Connecticut, ultimately achieving the position of VP Global Supply Chain for Personal Care Products in London, England, and finally Senior VP HPC Supply Chain for The Americas at Unilever.
Paul’s life revolved around his family. He was extremely proud of his children, Catherine and Mark’s achievements, and was blessed with grandchildren, Lucy, Paul and Alison.
Give him a glass of wine, a roast chicken, and a walk through the Austrian vineyards, and Paul was in heaven. He was an avid reader, golfer, sailor and NY Giants fan. He laughed and danced at every party he ever attended. Paul loved traveling, Ireland, being in Vermont, and listening to Emmylou Harris. And, he was loved by everyone.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marlene, daughter, Catherine Dolan and husband, Michael Blowfield, son, Mark Dolan and wife, Ann Dolan, grandchildren, Lucy Blowfield, and Alison and Paul Dolan, brother, Thomas Dolan, sister, Carol Connerty, sister-in-law, Karen Schwarz, mother-in-law, Steffie Walters, 8 nephews and their families, Tally the cat (his faithful companion of 16 years), and many close friends in the US and on Grand Bahama Island. The family appreciated the support and help of Patti and Steve Twitchell, who were always there for Paul.
