

Peter P. Scott, age 89 of Old Saybrook (formerly of Richmond Hill, Queens, NY), passed away on August 13, 2011. Peter was born in Rutherford, New Jersey on May 11, 1922 to the late Eva and Gabriel Seniawsky. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his sisters Veronica Murphy, Alice Gerzban, and Marjorie Bile. Peter is survived by his wife Helen; daughters Barbara Pomfret and her husband William of East Hampton, CT and Helen Powers and her husband William of Purdys, NY; Grandchildren Michael Pomfret of Washington D.C., Lindsey Schweers and her husband Bryce of Aberdeen, MD, Damian Powers, his wife Stephanie and their daughter Kelsey Faith of Carmel, NY, and C.J. Powers and his wife Kamini Singha of State College, PA. Peter was a long-time member of the Westbrook Elks, a member of the Old Lyme VFW, and had served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also had been a Knight of Columbus, 4th degree. He served in the 8th Army Air Force during WWII as a waist gunner on the B17, 384th Bomb Group and earned recognition for his escape from Germany on foot after being shot down in combat. He was awarded the Silver Star, Caterpillar Club, Winged Boot Club, Gold Fish Club, Purple Heart, etc. He is retired from American Airlines, JFK International Airport, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. John Church in Old Saybrook, followed by interment at Cypress Cemetery in Old Saybrook. Friends may call on Friday, August 19 from 5:00pm until 7 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook.
