

Dick was born March 12th 1943 in Somerville, Massachusetts. He attended Boston College High School and Merrimack College where he met his wife of 60 years, Joanne.
Dick went on to a distinguished career as commercial airline pilot, serving as a representative, and later as chairman of the Airline Pilots' Association. He was affectionately referred to as "The Captain" by friends and family. Following his retirement from aviation he became a dispatcher at the Old Saybrook Police department.
If Dick was not in the air he wanted to be on the water. He earned a Coast Guard license as Merchant Marine Officer, was a member of the Baldwin Yacht Club, and was a Harbor Management Commission volunteer. An avid sailor, he enjoyed competitive yacht racing with his son Emil (Pem) and excursions to Cape Cod and the islands.
Dick is survived by his wife, Joanne, his children, Cassandra and Emil, granddaughter Amelia and daughter-in-law Hilary. He will be missed by his sister, Frances Dillon, and his brother, Emil Goduti, both of Newport News, VA
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, from 9:30am until 10:30am at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook. A Funeral Mass will follow art 11am at St. John's RC Church, located at 161 Main St, Old Saybrook, CT.
