

Walter L “Buddy” Brundige, age 64 of Westbrook passed away Monday June 4, 2010 at the VA Hospital in West Haven. He was born in New London CT on August 28, 1947, to the late Walter and Florence (Post) Brundige.
Buddy was a U.S. veteran serving in the Army as a Sergeant from 1964 to 1967 during the Vietnam era. And from 1973 to 1976 he served in the U.S. Air Force. In the eighty’s he worked as a toolmaker and machinist in area shops. And then opening his own business called Freelance Tool, as well as fabrication, die repair, and general machine work. Buddy was well known in Westbrook some referring to him as the Mayor of Westbrook. He was a great tinkerer, very creative, and able to fix or recreate anything with machines. Buddy was also an avid NASCAR fan, even owning his own car, at one point. He will be sadly missed on the shoreline.
He is survived by his two sisters, Gail Castelli of Chester, and Sharon Torrenti of Old Lyme. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Catherine and Richard Nankee, Edward P. Castelli III, James Torrenti and Matthew and Kelly Torrenti.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook Friday June 8, from 6 to 8. Graveside services will be on Saturday June 9, at 11am at Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook, with full military honors.
