

Walter Kozey, of Old Saybrook passed away peacefully Friday morning, August 26, 2011 at Middlesex Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years Madelyn. He was born February 20, 1931 to the late Constantine and Helen Kozey.
He and his wife Madelyn moved to Old Saybrook in 1960 where he raised his loving family, owned Walt’s Market and was an active member of his community.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, reading, travelling, fishing and boating.
He will be best remembered for his love of people, telling stories and jokes, and his kind and generous spirit.
Besides his wife Madelyn, he leaves behind 5 children, Marilyn Abrahamsson and her husband Glen of Old Lyme, John Kozey of Quaker Hill, Paul Kozey and his wife Stasia of Old Saybrook, Suellen McCuin and her husband Scott of Essex and Kathleen Lunz and her husband Christopher of Ivoryton. He also leaves his precious grandchildren, Ben, Gunnar, and Zac Abrahamsson, Hannah Kozey and Danielle and Rick Ruszala, Maddy and Owen McCuin, and Connor and Grace Lunz. He was predeceased by his brothers Nicholas and Maxim Kozey. The family would like to thank his loving caregivers, Sam and James, the Old Saybrook Police Dept. and Ambulance and Middlesex Hospice.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. Old Saybrook, Friday September 2, from 5 to 9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 3, at 11am at St. John Church, Main St. Old Saybrook. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery with military honors.
