

Ernestine was born in Mechanic Falls, the daughter of Virginia Ray and Harold S. Jordan, on March 30, 1929. She attended schools in Mechanic Falls and Old Orchard Beach and graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1947. On November 4, 1950, she married Francis Leo Fournier and moved to Old Town. Francis died on May 27, 1967, leaving her with five children to raise. On June 30, 1972, she married Raymond White, who pre-deceased her on October 3, 2013.
Ernestine worked at Fogler Library at the University of Maine from 1969 until her retirement in 1991. After her retirement she worked for many years at the Old Town Public Library, a job which she loved.
In addition to her two spouses, Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and husband, Elizabeth Jordan Carr and George Carr; and a special aunt, Harriet Jordan.
Ernestine is survived by her five children and their spouses -- Virginia and Jack Albert; Nancy and Shirley Bradeen; Kathleen and Michael Ouellette; Peter and Danielle Fournier and Terri and Gary Keane. She was a beloved grandmother to Benjamin Bradeen, Veronica Bradeen Lachapelle, Michael Albert, Matthew Fournier, Jessica Cambridge, Peter Fournier, Ashley Albert Watkins, Adam Cambridge, Katherine Fournier Parker, Meghan Keane, Rachel Keane and Sam Keane. She was also “Nana” to 17 great-grandchildren, Kaylen Bradeen, Parker Harriman, Braden Harriman, Kilee Bradeen, Isabella Bertolino, Eva Albert, Brynne Fournier, Abby Watkins, Lucy Albert, Bode Fournier, Will Parker, Lauren Parker, Rozalyn Fournier, Ruby Bertolino, Andrew Cambridge, Cyrus Fournier and Max Fournier.
Ernestine’s favorite pastime was cooking and baking which she still enjoyed at her passing. She loved to read and enjoyed music of all types but especially songs from the Big Band Era. Ray and Ernestine enjoyed traveling in their retirement and they both loved to swing dance.
Visitation will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town on August 15 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family would like to invite friends and family to share a light luncheon in the parish hall, following the service.
