

Frederick C. Copeland, Sr.
Greenbush – Frederick C. “Papa Bear” Copeland, Sr., 66, died peacefully on December 22, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was a strong and courageous man, who had survived four bouts of cancer before his heart finally gave out. Fredrick was born on June 7, 1944, the son of Frank W. and Frances (Norcross) Copeland.
Frederick was a giving man with an open heart, and he was always there for those in need. He was an animal lover and a prankster who loved playing practical jokes. He enjoyed puttering around the house, fishing, decorating for the holidays, sweets and homemade meals, and his CB radio. Fredrick was a co-owner of Copies Cab in Old Town, and he volunteered at the Leonard Mills Living History Museum, the Shaw House, and at Penquis Cap driving children to and from daycare.
Fredrick is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Barbara (Simpson) Copeland of Greenbush; 6 children, Frederick C. Copeland, II. of Indian Orchard, MA, Mary Rivera of Agawam, MA, Bernadette Copeland of Greenbush, Michael Copeland of Blecher Town, MA, Caryn Leighton of Wilton, and Jason Copeland of Milford; step-daughter, Becky Copeland of Corina; 13 grandchildren, Elsa, Joey, Jonathon, Delany, Brianna, and Angel, all of MA, and Alexis, Matt, Mercedes, Cameron, Matt, Aaliyah, and Jordon, all of ME; his brother Lawrence Copeland, and sister Pam Johnston.
In addition to his parents, Fredrick is predeceased by his three brothers, Bruce, Grover “Squeaky”, and Teddy.
