Ricky grew up in Old Town with a wild and crazy network of friends. He graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1965. He served his country during Vietnam as a member of the US Army, receiving several awards and commendations. He returned to Old Town and was employed as an electrician for Bangor Hydro for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. On his retirement day, he married Linda (McLaughlin). He loved living at camp at Pushaw Lake and belonged to very close neighborhood where everyone looks out for each other. He spent many years snowmobiling, camping, and traveling with his wife; including some favorite spots such as Abol, Mattagamon, Boothbay Harbor, and the Fryeburg Fair. He would drive an hour or more just to have dinner with friends and he had a special bond with them. He was a member of the Kukunsook Camp Owners Association, a member of the Quarter Century Club, and the dam at Pushaw Lake was named after him.
