

OLD TOWN—Rita Ann Grenier, 65, died unexpectedly October 8, 2012 at a Bangor Hospital. She was born January 2, 1947 in Old Town a daughter of Walter J. and Marie D. (Michaud) Wood.
She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a strong, selfless, and generous women. Rita was a women who valued integrity and principals and one always knew where they stood with her. She was an active counselor with Pathfinder’s following the death of her daughter, offering her experience to comfort those going through their loss. She enjoyed her monthly get togethers with her special friends. She also enjoyed her special days with her grandchildren and cherished those moments dearly.
She is survived by a daughter Marie Caliandro and her husband Tim of Greenbush; six grandchildren, Josh Hesseltine, Lorrin Hesseltine, Logan Leonard, Derek Barclay, Maddy Barclay, and Kenzie Barclay; two step children Cindy Fournier of Old Town; and Rick Grenier and wife Janet of Derby, KS; and their children Patti-Jo Chaisson, Nick Chaisson, Ryan Grenier, Amanda Grenier, and four step-great grandchildren who all called Rita “Gram”; brother Walter Wood of Searsport; two sisters Joanne Dyer of Milford; and Dee Patch and husband Howard of FL; son-in-law Scott Hesseltine of Milford; several nieces and nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Grenier, daughter Sonya Grenier Barclay, 2 brothers James Wood and Reginald Wood, sister Bertha Randall.
Friends may call 6-8 PM Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town where a celebration of her life will begin at 8 PM. Burial will be private at the family plot in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sonya Barclay Trust Fund c/o Penobscot Federal Credit Union, 265 Main St, Old Town 04468
