

Alton proudly served his country in the United States Army with honor and dedication. Following his military service, he worked as an elevator mechanic and retired from Dover Elevator Company.
A devoted family man and passionate sports enthusiast, Alton found great joy in cheering on his grandchildren at their baseball games, watching his granddaughter’s dance recitals, and watching Ole Miss Rebels football. He also took pride in maintaining his yard, earning recognition with a "Yard of the Month" award.
Alton will be remembered for his love of family, his service, and the quiet joys he found in everyday life,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eunice Woods; four brothers: Thomas Woods, Albert Woods, Ralph Woods, Alvin Woods and three sisters, Ola Fortune, Katherine Acree, and Mildred Dixon.
Alton leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Rachel Woods; three children, Al Woods (Denise), Steve Woods (Ronna), Jason Woods; a sister, Clara Adair; four grandchildren: Will, Colby, Brently, Tori (Wesley), and one great-grandchild, Grant.
Family will receive friends on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Brantley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods.
