

Olive Branch - Bessie Wolverton McCommon, 75, passed away Sunday at her home in Olive Branch, surrounded by her family after a brave battle with cancer. Bessie was born in Bethel Springs, TN in 1938 and graduated from Southside High School in 1956. She loved attending reunions and social gatherings at the Picadilly with classmates. She also enjoyed dancing at the Senior Citizens Centers in Olive Branch and Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Delphia (Thrasher) Wolverton and her husband Richard McCommon of 46 years. She is survived by daughters Vickie (Jimmy) Bertschi of Memphis, Cindy McCommon of Olive Branch and son Kevin (Jen) McCommon of Asheville, NC. She leaves behind granddaughters Nicole (Kirk) Wright, Lindsey (Jason) McDowell, Megan Parker and McKenzie Hughes. Grandson Noah and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister Betty Berry and Brothers Ken (Debbie) Wolverton, Jerry (Liz) Wolverton and Johnny (Barbara) Wolverton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Thursday night from 5 - 7 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday at 10 a.m. all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch.
