Bruce R. McCoy, 74, of Byhalia, MS, passed away Tuesday July 17, 2018 at Baptist North Mississippi Hospital in Oxford, MS. Mr. McCoy, a U.S. Army Veteran, was retired as an equipment operator with Linkous Construction Company. He was a member of Byhalia United Methodist Church and was a 32nd degree Mason and past Master of Byhalia Masonic Lodge 115. Mr. McCoy loved shooting sporting clays and crappie fishing and was especially fond of his coffee meetings with his friends at Warsaw Grocery. He was preceded in death by his son, Charlie McCoy, his parents, Cooper Harrell McCoy and Mary McCoy, and his brother, Chip McCoy. Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley McCoy, his son, Jason McCoy and his partner, Johnie Monroe. He is also survived by two sisters, Cinda Newsom and Melanie Gowharie (Reza) and three granddaughters, Madison, Laura, and Brittany McCoy. A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in the Flame building at Byhalia United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Semper Fi Foundation, or Emory Independent Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
