

Catherine Joyce Phillips, 68, of Byhalia, passed away at her home June 2, 2010. She was born January 16, 1942 to Clarence and Willa Shaw in Bolivar, Tennessee. Joyce is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe Phillips. She also leaves one son, Allen (Cindy) Phillips of Byhalia; one daughter, Cathy Anderson of Olive Branch; four sisters, Barbara Rhea of Holly Springs, Nancy Bryan of Germantown, Margie Haynes of Nesbit, and Pam Shaw of Olive Branch; two brothers, Bill Shaw of Holly Springs, and Bud Shaw of Olive Branch; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. Joyce retired from the Town of Byhalia, where she worked for 18 years as City Clerk, where she was state, nationally and internationally certified. She also worked for three years for the City of Olive Branch. She served as President of the Mississippi Municipal Clerks, Assessors and Collectors Association. Joyce was a member of Byhalia First Baptist Church, where she actively served, and sang in the choir, and started the Banner Ministry. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Byhalia, with burial following at Byhalia Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, Byhalia, Mississippi.
