On July 21, 2023, Charles Atherton Joyner, Jr. of Southaven, MS tragically passed away. Charlie was born on August 12, 1974, in Memphis, TN. He was a very hard worker that lived to please everyone he was in contact with daily. He was a son, brother, uncle, but most importantly a fiercely loving and devoted father to his only son, Charles “Chaz” Atherton Joyner III, who you could always find on a baseball field somewhere together.
Charlie will be remembered and dearly missed by his loving family that includes, parents, Kathy and Charles Joyner Sr., his sister, Lisa Starr (Bobby), nephews, Nick Starr and Tyler Starr (Grace), two nieces Ella and Emmy, one grandmother, Wanda Bouldon, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many lifelong friends.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Compel Church in Southaven on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 6-7 pm with a memorial service to begin at 7:00 pm. The most important thing to Charlie would be to ensure his 11 year old son, Chaz, is taken care of the best way possible. To help with this, Charlie’s family created a GoFundMe account titled ‘The Chaz “Zilla” Joyner Fund’. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated during this most difficult time and the years to come.
