

David is survived by wife Sharon Helmic of Olive Branch, a son David M. Helmic II, wife Jennifer Helmic, of Olive Branch and a daughter Danielle L. Moore husband Tony Moore with three grandchildren Kimmie Moore, Kailey Moore and Allen Moore all of Olive Branch, MS. He is also survived by a brother Danny L. Helmic – wife Carolyn Helmic of Mason, MI. He is preceded in death by parents Frank & Margaret Helmic, Lansing, MI a, brother Gary Helmic, Mason, MI and a sister Bonnie Ford, Travelers Rest, SC.
David was born on March 14,1953 in Lansing, MI to Frank and Margaret Helmic where he grew up until moving to West Palm Beach, FL. It is here where he met his wife Sharon. They later moved to Lansing, MI. In 1975 the Lord called David into the ministry where he pastored his first church in Fairview, MI after completing Bible college. He just recently retired as pastor of Open Door Baptist Church located in Potts Camp, MS after 30 years of service. David also worked as an Assistant Warden of Programs for Marshall County Corrections in Holly Springs, MS 1996 – 2010. He was responsible for the start of a Bible college where many came to know the Lord. This ministry helped to transform lives of prisoners in returning to society as responsible citizens.
The viewing is scheduled for 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday – April 29 at Brantley Funeral Home at 6875 Cockrum Rd, Olive Branch, MS. The funeral will be held 10:00 AM Saturday- April 30 at Clearview Baptist Church located at 3345 Goodman Rd E, Southaven, MS with burial to be held at Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch. Bro. Tony Moore of Open Door Baptist Church and Bro. Cory Knepshield of Clearview Baptist Church will be conducting the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life.
