

Earl Thompson Haven, 87, of Byhalia died at his home on September 4 after a brief illness. Born March 19, 1923, in Independence, MS, he served two years in the Conservation Corp as a young man and served his country as a member of the Army during World War II in the Pacific. Upon his discharge from the Army, he moved to Byhalia, MS, where he remained until this death. He was a farmer, a retired employee of Gem, Inc, and a member of Victoria United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, September 5, and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch with burial in Byhalia Cemetery. He leaves a son, Barry Haven, Sr. (Sandra) and a daughter, Janice Wagg (Doug) of Byhalia, four sisters-Daisy Ferguson of Como, MS, Pauline Scott Hill of Senatobia, MS, Ruby Anderson (Sam) of Mt. Pleasant, MS, Wilma Morehead of Byhalia, MS, a brother Bill Haven (Carolyn) of York, SC, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
