Gloria Shell Wommack, 61, went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2024 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven, MS. She was born June 19, 1963 to Bill and Shirley Shell in Piedmont, Al. Gloria was a devoted animal lover, often affectionately referred to as the "Ellie May" of the neighborhood. She was the first person anyone would call if they found an injured or lost animal, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her passion extended beyond animals to a deep appreciation for Native American culture, particularly its music. Gloria had a cherished CD that she played nonstop, and she was known to become quite upset if it was ever turned off. Her love was unconditional, and her life revolved around her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. Gloria will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Smith. Gloria leaves behind her father, Bill Shell (Rebecca); two children, Michelle White and Shaun Shell; her Godson, Vince “the redheaded stepchild” Gilliam; her life partner, John Row-Button; five siblings: Tonie Smith, Pam Crutcher, Billy Shell Jr., Charles Shell, and Richard Shell. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Sebastian Bryson and Kyler White, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods.
