James Roy Covington, 82, died June 5, 2014. He lived in Nesbit, MS for 25 years before recently moving to Pinedale, MS. He enjoyed gospel music and being with his family. He leaves behind two daughters, Kathryn Bateman (Tommy) of Pinedale and Janice Covington of Oxford; granddaughters, Jennifer Bateman and Amanda Watson; great-grandchildren, Jonathon Wilson, Harley Watson and James “Tripp” Turner; a sister, Betty Clements of Olive Branch and brother, Elmer Covington of Oakland, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Golden Covington; sisters, Sarah Louise Whitman and Thelma Edwards and brothers, L. C. Covington, Jr. and Vaiden Covington. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch with burial in Memorial Park Southwoods Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
