James Vernon Edwards, Sr., 89, of Vicksburg, MS went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2022. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Edwards; father, William C. Edwards; mother, Lena Williams Edwards; and two brothers, Carl Edwards and Roy Edwards. He is survived by his son, James V. Edwards, Jr.(Linda); son, Jerry Edwards; daughter, Teresa Edwards York; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Annette Edwards; and multiple nieces and nephews. Vernon was born on December 29, 1932 in Shaw, MS. He was a longtime resident of Memphis, TN until he moved to Vicksburg, MS to be closer to his family. He worked for many years as a lumber grader. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and meeting his friends on the lake. Vernon was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of the Baptist faith. A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Southwoods on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Baptist Hospice of Yazoo City, MS and St. Joseph Hospice of Vicksburg, MS for their care and compassion.
