

The memorial service for Janet Gilbertson Campbell Burrill will be held Saturday, February 12, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Hernando. Burrill died January 30, 2011, at her home in Southaven. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jesse Taylor Campbell, and her father, Andrew Gilbertson Campbell, both of Cleveland, Ohio; her sister, Margaret Georgeson Campbell, of Sarasota, Florida; her husband, Peter Sanden Barno, of Sarasota, Florida; her husband, The Right Reverend G. Francis Burrill, of Sarasota, Florida; and granddaughter, Samantha Hayward Ross, of Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is survived by her son, Douglas Sanden Barno, and wife Mary Kay; son, Peter Gilbertson Barno and wife Margaret of Granville, Ohio; daughter, Margaret Campbell Barno, of Pflugerville, Texas; daughter Cathleen (Kitt) Taylor Brand and husband Dietrich Brand of Hernando and Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; grandson David Douglas Barno and wife Cynthia with great-grandson Jacob Charles and of Gahanna, Ohio ; grandson Christopher Sanden Barno and wife Tricia with great-grandchildren Owen Douglas, Cooper William , and Addison Rose of Tampa, Florida; grandson Mark Barno and wife Carrie with great-grand-daughter Kaitlyn Jeanette of Upper Arlington, Ohio; grand-daughter Liesl Sanden Ross and husband John with great-granddaughter, Kadence Trinity Ross, of Waukesha, Wisconsin; and grandson, Erich Gilbertson Doser, of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Born Janet Gilbertson Campbell, August 13, 1914, in Dayton, Ohio, Burrill was a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, where the Janet C. and Peter S Barno scholarship is named in her honor and where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She is a graduate of New Jersey State Teachers College, with a Master’s Degree in reading and math. A former resident of Sarasota, Florida, Burrill was an active volunteer in the Sarasota Opera Guild, the American Red Cross, the Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Sarasota. She was the oldest member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hernando, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, tributes can be made to the Samantha Hayward Ross Endowed Scholarship at the Northwest Mississippi Community College Foundation or to Heifer International.
