

KENNETH WAYNE SMITH, SR., 82, passed away Wednesday in Olive Branch. He was born on December 16, 1931 in Fulton, MS, son of Quinton and Burvil Smith. He married the late Norma Lynn Smith in 1951 and they spent 56 years together. Kenneth was a superintendent for MCDR Construction for 32 years. He enjoyed walks with his four-legged buddy, Scooter, riding his John Deere tractor, spending time with his family and being on his land in Red Banks, MS. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His quiet strength and caring nature ensured all of his family’s needs were met. If you were around Kenneth for any time at all, you would surely have seen his playful sense of humor. This lighter side earned him favor and great likability among everyone he knew. Kenneth is survived by three children: Sharon Jones of Olive Branch, MS, Donna Robbins of Bartlett, TN, and Kenneth Smith, Jr. of Olive Branch, MS. He is also survived by one brother, Gary Smith; one sister, Betty Mitchell, and seven grandchildren. A gathering of friends will be held Thursday, April 10 from 5-7 p.m. Service will follow Friday, April 11 at 10 a.m., all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS.
