Larry Ohrberg, 75, of Southaven, MS, formerly of the Quad Cities, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 5,2019. Larry was born in Moline, IL to Dale and Vera Louck Ohrberg on October 19, 1943. He married Mary Jo Rettig on October 31, 1964. Larry graduated from Rock Island High School and Blackhawk College. He worked in the printing and graphic arts industry for over 55 years. In 1985 Larry and Mary Jo relocated to Memphis TN. In 1990 Larry started his own business, Carnation Graphics, retiring in 2010. Larry’s passion for learning and mastering new crafts was evident in a multitude of hobbies including photography, woodworking, and creative arts. Larry was an award-winning BBQ chef and competition judge.
Larry never met a stranger and was blessed with close friends across the country. His personality was larger than life, and he will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, generous spirit, and devotion to family and friends. He loved God, his family and friends, the Chicago Bears, barbecue, and his Snowden Grove community. Larry battled cancer for over ten years, but it did not hold him back. He volunteered at the West Cancer Clinic. Larry devoted himself to lifting-up and encouraging others and lived every day of his life fully. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Jo; children Kelly (Art) Leone, Dayton, OH; Paul (Christine) Ohrberg, Olive Branch, MS; and Tim (Carolee) Ohrberg, Southaven, MS; grandchildren Gina and Vincent Leone; Andrew, Juliana and Faith Ohrberg; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Wings Organization West Cancer Clinic, DeSoto; or any favorite charity. Special thanks to Encompass Hospice Care.
