Linda Lessel Looney, age 81, was taken from us and ushered into her Heavenly Home in the early hours Sunday, March 12th. We rejoice that she is now everlastingly with her Lord. Linda was born September 27th, 1941, to Herschel and Louvena Lessel in Truman, Arkansas. For many years Linda was a dedicated member of Meadow Brook Baptist in Byhalia, Mississippi. Linda had many talents and she truly enjoyed life. Her life experiences ranged from square dancing with her sweet husband & attending gospel music singing — to selling vacuum cleaners, & day care work with her sister Judy. Linda was ever gracious and considerate of others. She also was known to tirelessly invest in her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Kenneth Lessel, Betty Burrows, and Ray Lessel. Linda was lovingly cherished by her husband of 63 years James Neal Looney. She was adored by her siblings Hulon (Dorothy) Lessel, Judy Lessel, Ola (Jimmy) Joyner, and her children Ronnie Looney (Brenda), Ricky Looney (Debbie), Nancy (Bill) Lykins. Linda too was blest with 6 Grandchildren: Jessica (Nathan) White, Tosha (Shawn) Cookemboo, Joshua Lykins, Boomer Looney (Ashley), Ricky (Shelley) Looney, Janaye (Justin) Clark; and 9 Great-grandchildren: Silas, Rhett, Abbie Louvena, & Celia White; Bryson, Brantley, & Brooks Looney; Harper Looney; Asher Clark. The family will have a time of visitation for Linda on Tuesday, March 14th from 12:00-1:00 PM at Meadow Brook Baptist Church. A Christian Funeral Service will follow the time of visitation. A concluding committal service in which Linda’s earthly body will be laid to rest will be held at Center Hill Cemetery in Olive Branch, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Meadow Brook Baptist Church, 13862 Red Banks Rd. N, Byhalia, MS 38611.
