Maria Silgado-Betegon, 87, of Olive Branch, MS passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Mrs. Silgado-Betegon was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin S. Sperling; and her son, Walter Allen Sperling. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Sperling(Alicia); daughter, Ana Sperling-Wilson(Jeff); 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Juvencio; and 2 sisters, Mella and Juana. Mrs. Silgado-Betegon was born in Panama where she was the daughter of farmers, and came to live in the United States in 2014. She was a hard working woman with an entrepreneurial spirit which she used to support her family. In her free time, she loved nature, birds, and trees. She also enjoyed reading and writing children’s stories for which she won a literature award. She was a hardworking, independent woman all the way until the end of her life. A memorial service will be held at Brantley Funeral Home on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:00 am.
