

Olive Branch - Milton Lennie Woolsey died February 27, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee at age 95. Milton, born May 1917, in Olive Branch, Mississippi was predeceased by his parents, Lennie and Evaden Woolsey; his siblings Thelma, Bernice, Frank Elmo, and Harold; and his wife, Virginia. His loss is mourned by his daughters, Myrna Kay, Virginia Lynn, and Joyce Marie; Myrna’s child, Lyn Dent, Joyce’s child, Nathaniel (Nathan) Woolsey Dean, and Virginia’s child, Jennifer Lynn McPherson; brothers-in-law Joe Collier, Julian Collier, John Roach, Russell Zachary, and Leroy Tisdale; sister-in-laws Roseanne Woolsey, Julia Roach, and Betty Zachary; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Milton was a self-made man. By profession he was a taxi driver, book seller, welder, and worked in the maintenance and engineering department for DuPont for 25 years until his retirement in 1981. In the home, he was an electrician, plumber, landscaper, and mechanic. In his “retirement”, Milton, with his daughter, Virginia Lynn’s assistance, established his own companies, Holiday Iron Works and Holiday Landscaping, and planted a tree farm on the family estate. Milton was a member of the Olive Branch, Mississippi Seventh-day Adventist; the church that his parents built -- Evaden as fundraiser and Lennie as carpenter. Milton taught Sabbath School classes. He volunteered in prison ministries at Shelby Farms Penal Farm, where he became a valued friend of many, including Prison Warden Luttrell, father of Shelby County Mayor, Mark Luttrell. Milton said daily that he loved the Lord and thanked him for blessing him with a good life and good health. He was a positive, good-humored man, who thoroughly appreciated his life and loved the Lord, his family, his friends, and his pets. The viewing for Milton Woolsey will on be on March 9, 2013 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church followed by the service at 2 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church.
