Ramah Christine Scates

Ramah Christine Scates 84, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 at her home in Memphis, TN. She leaves behind two daughters; Brenda Faulkner (Michael) and Patricia Thomas; three grandchildren, Stefan Beck, Dusty Austin, and David Thomas; and four great grandchildren, Savannah Beck, Camron Beck, Madison Beck, and Jackson Austin. Ramah is preceded in death by her parents David and Beulah May; husband Charles Scates; one daughter, Jacqueline Austin; three sisters, Icie Pickett, Thelma May, Elsie May; three brothers, Gaines May, Forester May, David May Jr.; and one grandchild, Derek Austin. Ramah was a member of several organizations Daughters of Nile, Eastern Star, Amaranth and White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was an avid reader and loved shopping. Ramah loved to travel and spend time with her family and was the matron of the family hosting all holidays and family events. Family requests that donations be sent to lovetotherescue.org in lieu of flowers. Private graveside services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2020 with a celebration of her life at a later date at Brantley Funeral Home.
