Richard Gerald Samsel

Richard Gerald Samsel, 77, of Olive Branch, MS, passed from this Earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Richard was born in Bean Station, TN on April 2, 1939, where he grew up and attended Rutledge High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960 on the USS Pritchett. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Olive Branch. Mr. Samsel is preceded in death by his parents, Albert C. and Alice Meek Samsel, his sisters, Shirley Samsel, and Margaret Lacklen, and his brothers, Ben and Knox Samsel. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Bell Samsel, his son, Richard Scott Samsel (Kellie), his daughters, Allyson Kay Samsel, Jackie Jill Samsel, and his brother, Albert C. Samsel, Jr. (Marti). He also leaves his grandchildren, Richard Jeffrey Samsel, Christopher Nolen Samsel (Melissa), Chloe` Katherine Samsel, John Scott "Jack" Samsel, and Jorja Rhea Samsel, as well as his great-grandchildren, Aemilia Jane and Noah Christopher Samsel, all of Olive Branch, MS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14 from 11 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 1 p.m., all at First Baptist Church of Olive Branch. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society . Interment will follow in Blocker Cemetery.
