Samantha Paige Thompson, lovingly known as "Sam" to all who knew her, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the age of 29, following a long and courageous battle. Born on July 27, 1995, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Bill and Tina Thompson, Sam lived her life with compassion, intelligence, and fierce determination.
Sam was known for her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others. She worked as a PRN Counselor for the Suicide Hotline, where her empathy and strength made a profound difference in the lives of many. She also pursued studies in Mortuary Science, demonstrating her desire to serve people during their most difficult moments. A proud and passionate member and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Sam used her voice to uplift and support those around her. She adored animals—especially capybaras—and recently fulfilled a dream of meeting and petting them, an experience that brought her immense joy and peace.
Creatively gifted, Sam found joy in knitting and crocheting, often sharing her beautiful handmade pieces with loved ones. She had a special bond with her beloved pets—her dog, Nyxie, and her cat, Apple Beans—who brought her daily comfort and companionship.
Those who knew Sam will remember her bravery, wit, and the gentle way she offered kindness to the world. She often reminded others to live on their own terms, famously saying, "Have a great day, whatever that means for you." Her spirit, resilience, and heart will be missed beyond measure.
Sam is survived by her parents, Bill and Tina Thompson; her sister, who was her best friend, Dannielle Thompson; her niece, Farrah Micek, and three very special friends, Aaron Payne, Austin Allen, and Taylor Wilson. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Sam’s home.
