

Waldo Ross Tucker of Southaven, Mississippi passed from this life on February 20, 2012. Son of the late Ernest and Florence Tucker, he was born in Heart, Arkansas on September 30, 1926. Waldo married his loving and devoted wife, Betty, who survives him, on March 9, 1947. They have celebrated 65 years of marriage. He is also survived by his three adoring daughters, to whom he was always a devoted father, Sandra (Paul) Doyel of Morgan, Texas, Linda (Larry) Everson, of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Debra (Philip) Gould of North Richland Hills, Texas. Fourteen grandchildren, Jason Doyel of Burleson, Texas, Jenny Davis of Mansfield, Texas, Bradley Gould of Bedford, Texas, Christie Everson of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Brandon Doyel of Morgan, Texas, Brian Everson of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Timothy Doyel of Fort Worth, Texas, Brittany Counts of Watauga, Texas, Bethany Gould of North Richland Hills, Texas, Lindsay Doyel of Morgan, Texas, Zachary Doyel of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mary Doyel of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jessica Doyel of Cleburne, Texas and Austin Doyel of Morgan, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren, Carley and Chloe Davis, Anna Grace Doyel, Isaiah Harrison, Mason Counts, and Adrian and Arissa Doyel, all of Texas and Jude Everson of Olive Branch, Mississippi, who cherished their loving Papaw. Mr. Tucker is also survived by four brothers, Don Tucker, Swartz Creek, Michigan, Gene Tucker, West Palm Beach, Florida, Ernest W. Tucker, Ft. Myers, Florida, Jerry Tucker, Flint, Michigan; one sister, Juanita Franklin, Flint, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Novella Tucker, Mettie Elliott, and Laurita Irvin. Having enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944, Mr. Tucker served with honor aboard the USS Mobile during World War II. He lived in Arkansas, Texas and several other states before moving to Flint, Michigan in 1954 and beginning his 30 year career with General Motors. Mr. Tucker retired in 1984, moved back to Texas, then to Memphis in 1986 and to Olive Branch, Mississippi in 1994 and later to Southaven. He was a faithful member of the church of Christ having served as a Bible Class teacher, deacon and for many years as an elder, always a tireless worker in the church, dedicated to evangelism. Mr. Tucker was a faithful member of the Southaven church of Christ until his death. He lived his life as a shining example of devotion to his family, always concerned for them, physically and spiritually. His passion in life was his love for God, his family and his Christian friends. He had such a giving heart, not only to his loved ones but also to many causes supporting those less fortunate or hurting and was especially generous in helping support many missionaries and preacher students over the years. His departure leaves a void and sadness in the many hearts of those who loved him and look forward to reuniting with him one day in heaven. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch and funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, at the Southaven Church of Christ, Highway 51 at Brookhaven Drive in Southaven, Mississippi. Interment will be at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
