Walter “Sid” Sidney Shinault, Jr., 83, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven, MS. Born on July 20, 1941, to Sidney and Ione Shinault, he was known to all as Sid.
A proud graduate of Olive Branch High School and Northwest Junior College, Sid dedicated six years of service to the Mississippi National Guard from 1965 to 1971. Afterward, he enjoyed a long and successful career with E.I. DuPont, retiring as an instrument mechanic after 36 years.
Sid had a true passion for motorcycles, always eager to ride, repair, and engage in conversations about them. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1990 in Nesbit. Though Sid was of the Methodist faith, he regularly attended Gracewood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ione Shinault; two brothers, Joe and Cecil Shinault, and his sister, Annella Szanyi.
Sid leaves behind his wife, Elaine Shinault; a sister, Theresa London (Larry); a sister-in-law, Becky Shinault, and a brother-in-law, Sluggo Davis (Wanda). He also leaves behind four nephews: Ken Hall, Doug Davis, Ethan Shinault, Brandon Shinault, and three nieces, Becca Shinault, Michelle McGee, and Lisa Frazier.
A memorial service will occur on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at Gracewood Baptist Church, 8551 Getwell Rd. Southaven, MS 38672.
