

Wanda Ann Wood Blocker, 88, of Olive Branch, passed away peacefully at her home on December 12, 2010. Born in Van Buren, Arkansas on January 21, 1922 to the late Chism and Wanda Wood, Wanda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Billie B. Blocker; two daughters, Becky (Cleve) Reaves of Hernando, MS and Lynndy (Bill) Travis of Olive Branch; five grandchildren, Michelle (Ronnie) Morris of Hernando, Lindsey (Blake) Hill of St. Louis, MO, Abbey Reaves of Hernando, Megan (Joey) Carr of Memphis, and Bowe Travis of Olive Branch; and one great-grandson, Gus Hill of St. Louis. During World War II, Wanda was employed as a security officer at Lone Star Defense Plant, and after the war she worked for American Airlines. She was a longtime resident of Maywood and member of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and volunteer. She dedicated her life to the care and love of her family. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., until services begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church. For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Maples Memorial United Methodist Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
