William Bart Likes Sr.

William Bart Likes, Sr.,76, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2021. He was a Baptist. Mr. Likes’ was born in Memphis, TN at the Army hospital on December 31, 1944 to the Late Virgil and Elna Dowty Likes. He served his country in the Army from 1964 to 1968 as a Specialist with an honorable discharge on August 31, 1968. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann TenBusscher. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley M. Likes; their children: Teri Howell (Jim), Michael Likes Houston (Cindy), Melody Burton (Ronnie), William B. Likes, Jr. (Susan), William “Brian” Likes (Sheri), William “Billy” Likes (Wendy); stepchildren: Janice Gifford, Patti Hottendorf (Steve), Kenneth A. Downing, Paul Downing Sr. (Debbie), Dale Downing (Tiffany), Peggy Likes and his darling Pomeranian dogs, Ginger and Roxy. Mr. Likes’ also leaves behind 36 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. He loved watching his grandson Jacob Likes play for the Memphis Tigers and Joshua Likes play for Briarcrest High School. He was a certified diesel mechanic and driver for Jeff Browning Construction. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:00 am at Autumn Woods Cemetery in Olive Branch, MS.
