William Jerry Stewart, 73, died after a long battle with esophageal cancer on August 5, 2023 at his home in Olive Branch, MS. He was born November 16, 1949 in Hernando, MS, the son of Roland H. and Everdeen Stewart. Jerry was a supervisor for the road department in DeSoto County until he retired. He married Patricia Ann Murphy, the love of his life, in 1967. The celebrated 55 years of marriage this past December. Anyone who knew Jerry would say he always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. To his family, he was the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that anyone could ask for. Jerry was a simple man who liked his flip phone and enjoyed being at home with his family. He had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered for all the heart that he shared with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Stewart of Olive Branch. He leaves behind his wife, Patricia Stewart; his sons, Richard Stewart and his wife, Carmen, of Saltillo, MS and Kevin Stewart of Olive Branch; two grandchildren, Blake and Bradley Stewart; a great-granddaughter, Amethyst Presley Stewart; and one brother, Calvin Stewart and his wife, Maxine, of Olive Branch. He also leaves behind his precious mother-in-law, Eva Bell Murphy, who he thought of as a second mother. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Pat and the Stewart family.
