Faye Family,
My name is Jason Wells, Marshall Faye was my little league baseball coach at OAA.  I know it's almost been a year since he passed but I just found out. I haven't spoken to him since middle school (Ladue with Alex), but he helped lay the foundation for my career in athletics.  I have a found memory of the baseball team celebrating our season at his house. I just wanted you guys to know the positive impact he had on me.

Dear Faye and the family of Dr. Marshall Fay,

I am so sorry to have just learned about the passing of your beloved husband. I have wonderful memories of both of you tap dancing at the Merle Scheff School of dance back in the early 1990's on Sunday evenings. I enjoyed dancing with both of you and  was impressed with your devotion to each other. 
My condolences to you and your family and may Marshall's memory be a blessing.

Oh, Faye--

I am just learning of Marshall's passing.  I am so, so sorry.  I've been trying to get in touch with you because of our 50th high school reunion, which is this weekend.  I would so love to talk to you.  I  have fond memories of camping in Florida in 1977.

Faye, I was so sorry to find an obituary for Marshall. Although you and I have never met, I wanted to reach out to you. I imagine you have heard of me from Marshall at some point. We were good friends in high school. He was far and away the smartest person at Grady High School, and one of the top five smartest people I have ever met. I say that having had the privilege of meeting Nobel Prize winning scientists.

Two recollections: in our geometry class, the lesson was on probability. The teacher told us to fill out a blank piece of paper with the numbers 1-10, then to write either T or F next to each number. The class average was close to 50% correct. The outlier was Marshall's response. He got 90% correct. How? He somehow knew how to figure out the right pattern of responses. Amazing.

When time came to take what were then called Achievement Tests, Marshall took the obligatory math and English tests and took a flier on a subject about which he knew nothing. He never even opened the test book. He looked at the answer sheet, intuited a response pattern, filled it in and turned in his answers. Somehow, he got scored just under 700. Amazing.

But more important than pure smarts, Marshall was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Always thoughtful, he never hesitated to make sure that I was at ease and comfortable. That was no small accomplishment for a teenage boy.

I was happy to have a brief visit with Marshall about 15 years ago. He was in NYC and took the train down to Princeton. On the drive back from the station to my home, he almost instantaneously sensed that I was suffering. I was at a very low point in my health struggles and was also dealing with some very challenging and painful personal problems. He immediately and quietly ascertained what was going on and quietly offered support and comfort. 

May happy memories of your life with Marshall, your children and grandchildren, soon provide comfort and joy instead of pain.

I worked with dr Faye for only 3 years at Mobap and he was an excellent doctor to work with. I always appreciated he and his wife’s devotion to making cheesecakes for all of the staff. I’m very sorry for your loss and I consider myself truly blessed to have worked alongside him.
