

Alexander (“Alex”) Morar, Jr. was born on April 5th, 1929 to Alexander and Mary Morar, immigrants from Romania. Alex graduated from South High School in 1947 and attended what was then called Omaha University. A member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Alex co-founded the RHO Epstein Real Estate Fraternity, and was an acclaimed singer during high school and college. Alex earned his pilot’s license in 1948 and upon graduating from the University, enlisted in the United States Air Force, stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he was assigned to Wing Headquarters. Duties included conducting manpower, management and time and motion studies, in addition to teaching basic management techniques to office managers. After Alex was honorably discharged, he spent 5 more years in the Air Force reserves. After discharge, Alex earned a Real Estate Brokers license, which lead to employment as an appraiser with the Douglas County Assessor’s office, then a property manager for Byron Reed Co., a Staff Appraiser for the Nebraska Dept of Roads, and the Omaha Branch Manager for Real Estate Research Corp, a nationally recognized consulting firm out of Chicago. In 1968 Alex founded Consultants in Real Estate (CRE, Inc.) which he ran successfully for over 20 years. Morar also conducted real estate classes for the University of Omaha at Offutt Air Force Base and Lincoln, NE AFB, along with finance classes at Midlands College in Fremont, NE.
Alex became a staff appraiser for Real Estate Specialists, and Vice President-Lending with Occidental Federal S&L in Omaha. He then moved to Topeka, Kansas to accept a position as a Review Appraiser Officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank in 1986, and later transferred to the Office of Thrift Supervision, which was eventually absorbed by the United States Treasury Dept, from which Alex retired in 1992.
Alex married Betty Lou Camp in 1953 and they had 4 children. Alex was a warm and loving father who adored and supported his children. After retirement, Alex worked with his son David in his lawn care business and insurance business. He had a life-long love of aviation and was a serious collector of air plane models and related paraphernalia. Alex was thrilled later in life to be inducted into the Lakota Indian Tribe and known as “Red Tail Hawk”.
Predeceased by his parents, Alex and Mary, and sister Mary Covalciuc, Alex is survived by his children Sandra (Bruce) Morar Rohde, Katrina Henry, Alexander David (Dawn) Morar, and Michelle Morar; grandchildren Sean (Kaelee) Hill, Justin (Jessica) Morar, Sarah Henry and Ashley Morar; step-grandchildren Joy Rohde, Greg Rohde, Dale Rohde and Jill Rohde Gaylord; several great grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and nieces. Private family internment; memorial service to be announced at a later date.
