The letter Grandma and Grandpa Soseman received regarding Airman of the Month for January 1956.

Dad served in the United States Air Force as an organization supply specialist from May 15, 1952  to May 14, 1956. In the photo above he is receiving the Airman of the Month for January 1956. During his active duty with the military, he received several awards, National Defense Service medal, Korean Service medal, Good Conduct Medal, and United Nations Service medal.He remained in the air reserve until May 14, 1960

One Halloween in the early 70's Dad dressed up as a hobo and took us trick-or-treating. Being a jokester that he was, he asked  "Trick-Or-Beer". He actually got a couple! Too funny!!!

My Dad helped in the Rainbow style show 4/98. He loved helping the rainbow girls and having a good laugh.

Thank you for giving the opportunity to care for Clair.  It was a true honor to care for such a wonderful and loving man!  All of you are in my thoughts and prayers!!

I always thought of my Uncle Clair as young because he was my mom's second youngest brother. That wouldn't mean much in a small family, but there were already nine living children when he was born and only one born after him. 

Uncle Clair loved coming to our family reunion at Lake Wapello Iowa every year. He would share stories of his boyhood growing up in  rural Bloomfield Iowa  until about age 5 and then in small-town Nevada Iowa until about age 15. He loved to sit outside the cabins, so that he was ready to chat with whoever was available. I still remember the year that it was so hot that my glasses steamed up as soon as we left the cabin. You knew it was bad when even Uncle Clair retreated to an air-conditioned cabin. 

Our world will not be the same without my Uncle Clair, his siblings, and their spouses, all gone now, but still living in our hearts and minds.

Sometimes we would almost forget, but we always tried to get that annual sibling photo. This is from 2005 of Clair with his sisters Virginia and Alyce.

In 1995, we drove to What Cheer for a photo of the siblings on the steps of the Old Opera House. Clair's mother's parents lived in What Cheer IA and his mother grew up there.

Once we started getting together for family reunions, we tried to always get a photo of the siblings. This was from 1984.

A man I was proud to have around my daughter, Colleen, as she grew up.  An example of how to live your life with integrity, service and humor. 
   Claire was on the board and served as Rainbow Dad for years at Benson Diana.  He called my husband, Terry, one day to say they missed seeing him at the board meeting. Terry said he has forgotten all about it and took a nap. Claire told Terry the good news was that they elected Terry as Chairman of the Board for the up coming year, and hope he had a good nap.
   For me I  will always remember when we had a fashion show for a fundraiser and didn't tell anyone that the men would be dressed up as women models.  From that day on, whenever I hear his name I think of how he was the ugliest woman in the world.
   And now I think of him having a cup of coffee with my brother as they talk about their days in Mariners at Benson Presbyterian Church.

Remembering when Uncle Clair took my brother, sister, and I ( Jeff, Jan, Julie ) fishing  and taking us to see the new puppies  at Aunt Barb's parents

Uncle Clair would tease us mercilessly by telling us that Colleen or I could marry Phillip because he was adopted. The response was always Ewwwww! RIP Clair and Phillip

Our beloved Uncle was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Barbara, his son Phil, all his brothers and sisters and his parents Ray and Neda. He is no longer yearning to be with them. He made wind chimes for most of us that remind us of him. He loved to tease all of his nephews and nieces.

Uncle Clair was so loving. My favorite memory is at the Soseman reunion he always had hard candies in his pockets and shared it with all the kids, I loved the strawberries! 

Uncle Clair  you can now be at peace with Aunt Barbara an Phillip. God bless Love Rex B Goodwin
