David K. Seyler, 71, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, with his daughter and amazing care team by his side at Madonna St. Jane in Lincoln. Born February 2, 1954, in Omaha to Vincent Sr. and Betty Seyler.
David proudly served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Schweinfurt, Germany, where he served 18 months with the Air Defense Artillery HAWK Missile Fire Control Unit, responsible for managing and defending with surface-to-air missiles. After his honorable discharge, he continued his service with the National Guard.
A proud member of Ironworkers Local 21, David earned the nickname “Captain” while helping to shape Nebraska’s skyline. Among his favorite projects were the Kearney Archway, the Henry Doorly Desert Dome, and the First National Tower.
David will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and devotion to family; he enjoyed attending concerts with his daughter, fishing, hunting, the lifelong bond with his brotherhood of Ironworkers; but most of all spoiling his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Little Grandpa.”
He is survived by his daughter Amanda, son in law Corey and grandchildren Owen and Katie; his son Nick (Brooke) Seyler and grandchildren Corbin, Wrenley, Charlotte, Gatlin, and Tallulah. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vincent Seyler Jr., and beloved dogs Layla and Bella.
