Dean is lovingly remembered by his children: daughter Patty (Dennis) Reid, and sons Gary (Teresa) Bishop and Steve (Jan) Bishop. He is also survived by seven grandchildren—Doug (Jessy) Reid, Eric (Keli) Reid, Brian (Kayla) Reid, Ryan Bishop, Justin Bishop, Kellie (Max) Dayton, and Courtney (Justin) Higgins—and eight great grandchildren: Kendra, Jackson, Hunter, Piper, Ryker, Hendrix, Blakely, and James.
Born in Red Oak, Iowa, on October 11, 1938, Dean attended Red Oak High School, where he met the love of his life, Joanne Pearson, in a high school speech class. The two married on November 24, 1957. After the loss of their infant twins, Marvin and Melvin, Dean and Joanne later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where they welcomed their daughter Patty, followed by sons Gary and Steve.
Dean enjoyed a varied and fulfilling career, working at Nebraska Furniture Mart and Western Electric before finding his passion in real estate. He built a successful career as a sales agent and appraiser and ultimately founded his own real estate company and real estate school, where he taught and mentored new agents for many years.
His dedication and hard work allowed him and Joanne to enjoy retirement together, traveling to 49 of the 50 states, joining camping clubs, and forming many lasting friendships along the way.
The Bishop family extends their heartfelt gratitude for your thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
