

Jerry was born in Bellwood, Nebraska on July 16, 1931 and he passed away in his home in Omaha, Nebraska on July 30, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Rita Meysenburg after 72 years of marriage, and he is survived by 3 daughters Susan (John) Miller from Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Sheri (Mick) Cohagan from Lincoln, Nebraska and Sandy Love from Logan, Iowa. His 4th daughter, Shelly Lewis from Omaha passed away in 2023. Jerry is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
After his early life working on his parents’ farm in Bellwood, Nebraska, he entered the Air Force in 1952. He retired after 23 years as a SMGT. Jerry served in Vietnam as a bomb loading team leader. His career also took him to Italy with his family, and he served at multiple Air Force Bases across the United States.
For his 2nd career, he went to school at Metro Tech for a heating and air conditioning education, and he worked in that industry until 1997 when he retired again. Jerry was very active in the Catholic Church. He really enjoyed fishing with his friends, and he especially liked to fish and hang out with his buddy Denny Stessman. Let’s take this moment and reflect on Jerry’s remarkable life and his experiences. Jerry has always helped others, and he left a positive impact with his friends and family. May his memory bring comfort and strength to those who knew and loved him.
The Wake Service will be held on Monday on Aug 5th at 5:00 – 7:00 pm with the Rosary starting at 7pm at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home at 5701 Center St. in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Aug 6th at 10:30 am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church at 14330 Eagle Run Drive in Omaha. Gravesideside Service with Military Honors will be Tuesday August 6, 2024 at 2:30 pm at Omaha National Cemetery.
