Harry Richard Newquist, known as Dick to family and friends, passed away peacefully after a short illness on May 20, 2024. Dick was born September 15, 1936, to Harry C. and Magdalene Newquist; he was the youngest of three sons and a life-long resident of Omaha, NE. He spent many years working at Gate City Steel in Omaha.
Dick will be remembered by his family for his years of dedicated care to his mother. He enjoyed hunting with his brother and nephew, family dinners with leftovers to take home, and birthday presents of home-cooked meals to pull from his freezer. His nieces and nephews will always remember the zoo passes, Sea World passes and Fiesta TX passes purchased for birthdays. He always had a smile on his face and readily shared a laugh with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his niece, Sharon, and husband, Harold Johnson, residents of Crescent, IA, and by his nephew, Scott, and wife, Mary Newquist, residents of Schertz, TX, along with great nephew, Brice Johnson, and great nieces, Britteny Lee, Melinda Wise and Jacqueline Machalek. He had numerous great-great nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his good friends, Roger Tallman and Tom Coco.
Dick was welcomed into his forever home by our Heavenly Father, his parents, and brothers, Merle and Russell, and by his great-nephew, Brian Newquist.
