Hunter Russell, age 52, of Springfield, NE went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 17, 2019. Hunter was born April 22, 1966 in Clarksdale, MS to Henry and Gloria Russell. Hunter is survived by his loving wife Lori Russell; children, Shelby Russell, Connor Russell; Siblings, Ellis Russell and wife Patty, Elizabeth Russell, Wendell Russell, Step-mother Marcia Russell; close friend Dave Klahn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Hunter is preceded in death by his parents.
Hunter had many passions in life and lived them to the fullest. He was an avid ATV racer and enjoyed sharing the sport with his daughter. He enjoyed hunting and snowboarding with family and looked forward to bowling with friends. Hunter had a love for photography and could capture real beauty through the lens, telling a story that could make one feel as if they were there.
Hunter was an electrician by trade and passionate about each job he completed. He could stand back and envision what each job required and made suggestions to improve the end result. He enjoyed teaching his trade to others, held them to the same work ethic and was proud of them when they would excel and go off on their own. His reward was the friendships he gained from those he taught over the years.
Hunter was mechanically inclined and could put together a complete ATV after tearing it apart down to buckets of bolts, nuts and parts, having it back together and working better then before, of course not without a few colorful metaphors and with a smile on his face! He always figured out how to bring things back together no matter what task he was doing.
Hunter was a loving son, brother, father and husband. He was passionate about life, was selfless, giving, as well as giving of his time to strangers, friends and family. He would make sure others were taken care of before himself and would not expect anything in return. Family was very important to Hunter, not a week would go by without reaching out to those he loved to see how things were going or wanting to get together at bowling or grilling out.
Hunter was at a good place in life and found peace and happiness in the little things. His greatest joy was the love story he found with his wife, Lori, which began on 9/22/2018. Not a day went by without him saying ‘he did not deserve her’. Together, Hunter and Lori shared a love that was unbreakable, surrounded in laughter and joy in the short time they were husband and wife, putting the vows they shared to the test in the days leading up to Hunter going home to be with the Lord.
“Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there was great love.”
