James "Jim" L. Rawlings Jr.

Preceded in death by his father James Sr. and mother Helen; brother Karl and his wife Patricia; brother Dennis; nephew Jeff; aunt Nell; brother-in-law Ed; and mother-in-law Carol.

Jim is survived by wife Rhonda; daughter Heather and her husband Mark; sister Judy and niece Jenny; cousin Lesa; nieces and nephews Mary, Suzanne, Joanna, and Raymond and all of their precious families in Maryland; niece Cristen, Christine and her husband Steve.

Jim always thought he was not a having a pet kind of guy. Then two cats showed up one day and adopted him. For ten years, Stripeycat and BooBooKityy had changed his mind. After these two passed, amazingly enough, another kitten should up at the door and he invited UhOh in. He was not shy about being a great cat dad.

Jim's goals in life were family, working hard, play hard and collecting classic cars. He achieved all of these. He was the proudest father of his daughter Heather and loved her more dearly than anything in the world. She felt that love and knew her father was an amazing man, the smartest man she knew and that he would do anything for anyone.

Jim worked hard at Omaha Public Power District for 45 years. He had many, many friends from the day of his birth and throughout his life who helped him in playing hard and he kept them in his heart every day. His classic cars collection was his favorite hobby and purchased a home in which every car he collected also had a home.

A visitation for James will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A private family burial will occur at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
