Janet was born on September 18, 1942, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Lillian and Worth Carroll. As the daughter of a military family, she grew up living all over the world—a spirit of adventure that never left her. She spent many years serving her community as a paraprofessional at Boys Town Elementary School, where her warmth and compassion impacted countless young lives. Later, she brought that same dedication to her work with State Farm.
Janet was known for her loving, kind, and generous heart. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a zest for life. She was passionate about gardening, fishing, water skiing, chasing tornadoes and fire trucks, watching scary movies, and above all—Elvis Presley.
She was the proud and devoted mother of:
Randy (Lisa), Richard (Doreen), Lenee (Louie), and Scott.
She adored her grandchildren, who were the light of her life:
Zachary (Thalia), Cody (Miloni), Samantha, Jacob, and Hunter.
Janet is also survived by her beloved siblings:
Richard, Michael, Donna, Robert, and Jeff, and is preceded in death by her sister Terri.
In her family, Jan was famous for her spaghetti and meatballs, always made with love and shared with laughter around the table. Although we all have the recipe, somehow it never tastes the same as when mom made it.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center Street, Omaha, Nebraska.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM. All who knew and loved Janet are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
Though she is no longer with us, Janet’s love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
