Keith was born to Paul and Cathryn Bernhagen in 1937 in Boelus, Nebraska. He joined the Navy in 1953 and honorably discharged in 1957. He served on the U.S.S. Coral Sea CVA43 and the U.S.S Paracutin AE18.
Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Fern Bernhagen; wife, Patricia Bernhagen; and son, Dr. Monte Bernhagen.
Keith leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Rosemarie Bernhagen; brother, Randy (Betty) Bernhagen; children, Kent (Mary) Bernhagen and Shelly Hayden; grandchildren, Cassie, Chelsea, AJ, Trevor, Sara,Travis, and Kaylee Marie; and many more family and friends.
