To Ken's Family- I am so sorry to hear of Kens passing. I am remembering all the fun we had growing up on Frances street. at Crestridge, Beveridge & Burke. and summers at Cryer pool. Not to mention the night hide & go seek games, swimteam & the snowball fights! (that man had quite the arm!) Ken was an awesome person. I remember the time my brother Bill & I, Ken & his brother Rick bowled together on a team at Mockingbird lanes - the Conquistadors took 3rd place. We ROCKED! Once Ken & I had to walk home from the bowling alley & he carried my bowling ball the whole way. I wish that I had gotten to spend more time with him after HS. I think of him often. When I go to work tomorrow I am going to send him a up a balloon with a note on it - cause that's what I do when I'm missing a friend. I miss you already. XO

To the boys- Moose and I hung out the summers of our college years but,knew each other since 9th grade... We had different circles of friends which  over lapped. We also had similar desires in life. Moose was a great inspiration as he was much smarter bigger and a better athlete than me.  He was also the kindest person I ever knew.  He harbored no ill intent or feelings for any people, persons or thing that I knew of. Ken was truly a gentle giant... (of a person)

Ken was a great guy. I worked with him at Mutual. We got a long so well in our little gang. I am so sorry for yours and everyone's loss. He was a good man!

Lori and I were very sad to hear about Moose. Our prayers go out to all of his family. Our senior year at Burke, Moose and I were the defensive ends on the football team, a time with Moose I'll always remember. RIP Moose.

Who else can say that they had "brothers" by the name of Beef, Moose, Rhino and Bear? Those where the days! And no there was NEVER a dull moment on Frances Street. Trumpet playing will always be remembered oh what a wonderful sound. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at this time. Miss you all

It still hasn't sunk in. I knew Moose since high school but became a lot closer friend in the last few years, in particular the last year. I still want to stop by and visit him. I still want to email him. I still want to tease him on Facebook. But he's gone. I still have a voicemail from him telling me to have a good time and to be safe in Sturgis. Moose was a kind, thoughtful guy. And very funny and very smart. I am really going to miss him. I already do. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and the many friends who's lives he touched.

I was a co-worker with Moose from PayPal.  He always had a kind word to say when you passed him in the halls.  It has been a few years since I spoke with him, but he was a great person.  He will be missed.  My prayers to his friends and family at this time.

I had the good fortune of working with Ken many years ago in banking.  I have never forgotten his sense of humor.  Ken had a very kind and decent manner of treating people.  I especially remember his sense of pride toward his family, especially his boys.  I'm still trying to "put 'er together" Moose.....  I love that phrase he shared with me from his younger days with his Dad whom he was so proud of.....  I use it with my children now. God Bless all of you.

Moose,
You were my brother, T-O's good friend.  I remember one day probably 30 years ago you took T-O, Steve Bral and myself flying in a small single engine plane.  Everyone was a pilot except me.  You piloted and Steve Bral co-piloted.  Steve flew us up into a thick layer of clouds.  We climbed with no visual for a long time, too long, until the stall warning beeped.  I started to sweat a bit and I think T-O got a little pissed but I remember you holding steady and gently pushing forward till we finally broke free above the clouds.  I'm sure Steve would have eventually found a way out of trouble like he always does, but you knew if we just kept on steady we would come out alright.
On hearing of your passing I just can't shake that visual.  I see you pushing forward through all the thick clouds until you finally break free above it all, safe.  And there you are.  Free and safe above it all.  R.I.P.

I have many fond memories of Moose from our Burke High Marching Band Days.  My thoughts are with you.

Thoughts and prayers to the entire family, Peace to you all!!

There are many that knew Ken better than I, but I'd like to share some of what I knew about Ken. I knew him from our school days, and was happy to see him as a co-worker at First Data Resources. To me he was kind and inclusive to all. I see him as not only having a sensitive side, but even perhaps having a delicate soul. I played the album "Out Of The Blue" today by the Electric Light Orchestra. I remember Ken liked the song "Starlight" and I like the song "Mr Blue Sky". I know Ken has blue skies now, and I hope the storm clouds will clear eventually for his family and loved ones. Rest in peace friend!

My very deepest sympathies to the Holst family. Moose and I became close friends at UNL & ended-up being college roommates for a year and friends thereafter. We were quite different from each other, yet complimented each other well. He was such a gentle, softspoken, considerate, friendly pal! What I'll always remember is the way Moose would just sit and look at me for several minutes without saying a word as if in deep thought & observation whenever I would do some "off-the-wall" antic.
I would wait for some sort of reaction from him & finally after the long pause would come a big warm smile, and then we'd both just laugh and laugh for several minutes! After the laugh session, Moose would only say: "Ok.... now WHY did you do that Cash???" Followed by round 2 of laughter!  But what I'll remember most Moose, is the unique personal care and kindness that you showed toward me my brutha! I WILL be seein' ya Moose! May God bless you and your family!

To the Holst Family, My memories are vast of my friend Moose.  From Crestridge Elementary, to standing outside the doors of Beveridge on the cold winter mornings.  His blue parka and us laughing like there was no tomorrow.  Our days at Cryer pool with the rest of the brothers, to football at Beveridge and Burke.  I am of deep saddness and loss of words for his passing.  I wish I could be there to pay my respects and give my condolences to the family.  To his famly and his sons, I will pray for you at this difficult time.

My heart sunk when I heard the news of Moose's passing.  I have many fond, meaningful, and funny memories of Moose from our days together during Jr. and Sr. High School.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Jacob, Dillon, Connor and the entire Holst Family.  Bad things happen to good people far too often, and your family has borne far too much of your share.  There is some meaning in this somewhere for all of us, and I hope you find comfort from the outpouring of love and prayers from all of us whose lives were touched by Moose.

To the Holst family- My memories of Ken are hanging out at Cryer pool back in the good old days.  He called me to remind me of our 30 year reunion-he didn't have to do that-he was super person and will be truly missed.

Our sincere condolences. We met Moose in 1974 when we moved to Omaha and he became friends with our Son, Randy.  He was always so sweet and polite and a good friend.  May God bless his soul and give strength and comfort to you all.

Moose was without question the best athlete of our class at Burke High. Beyond that he had a great sense of humor and a compassion for others. Since hearing of his death it has been hard to think of anything else but easy to remember all the good times we shared. RIP Moose.

I remember moving to Omaha when I was in junior high. One neighbor told me about the boys that lived 3 houses up the street. She said their names were Rhino, Beef, Moose and Bear. It still makes me smile. I ended up with Gary (Bear) in my class. Later I met the older boys. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family.

To the Holst Family, Moose was a kind and gentle man.  I met Moose several years after High School and we became fast friends.  He took me on my first and only single engine airplane ride. What a thrill that was!!!!  My Husband and Moose were good friends and fellow FIGI's at UNL. Moose was a wonderful guy and will be truly missed. Our deepest sympathy is with your family.

Most of our earliest memories togather as a couple include Moose.  He was there on all our most important moments in beginning our lives togather.  Even though we haven't seen him in many years we frequently pull out our pictures and remember all the great times we had.  His boys are in our prayers.  He will be greatly missed.

Ken Holst was the all-American boy at Burke High School. Smart, Good looking, Jock, Sang in the Concert Choir - I mean there was nothing he couldn't do - and he did it all with grace, humility, a kind smile. I will miss him and will always appreciate the difference he made in my life.

Moose and I just became friends on Facebook before I heard of his passing. We were childhood friends. We played the trumpet together in Jr High at Beverage. Tom Westman was first chair and Scott Hubbard, Moose and I would battle for the 2nd chair all the time. I looked up to Moose as a kid. I was younger than him and thought he was a great basketball player. Scott Hubbard and Moose would come over to my House all the time and we would play basketball for hours. It made me feel important to play with the big kids. Moose wanted me to join his Fraturnity in college, but I chose another.

I thought about him all day when I heard the news. I feel sad and my heart goes out to his Family and anyone who new Moose. When I think of Moose Holst, my first thought is what a kind and gentle soul.
