

Kim Michael Burger, age 67, of Omaha passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 5, 1956, in Neligh, Nebraska to the late Clarence and Blanche (Fredrickson) Burger. Kim lived in Omaha for 44 years.
Kim graduated from Shelton High School in 1974 and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1979. He received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the business college. After graduation he began work in accounting at Peter Kiewit Sons’ where he met the love of his life, Ann Rabe. They married on October 9, 1982 in Fremont, Nebraska. Kim left the accounting field and spent the rest of his career in sales management. He retired with Shuster Bearing Corp. in 2021.
Kim was an active member of the community with many hobbies and favorite pastimes. He was a car enthusiast and a member of the Great Plains Porsche Club, where he planned many fun run drives for the club with his 2002 Porsche 911. The 2023 October Fun Run has been renamed the “Kim Burger Memorial Fun Run” in his honor. Kim and Ann were active members of the Qui Vive Ballroom Dancing Club. Together they enjoyed many dance classes and nights out dancing with friends. Kim appreciated many styles of dance but West Coast Swing was his favorite. Kim was also an active member of his church family, St. Mark Lutheran Church of Omaha, where he participated in an immigrant ministry and taught citizenship classes. Kim was an excellent cook and regularly made multi-course meals for his family. He loved to golf, did yoga several times a week, and had a passion for travel. He and Ann loved cruising and took many adventurous trips together.
Kim was a kind and caring person who loved to have conversations with all people. He was passionate about many things but most of all his faith and his family. He loved football and cheered for the Green Bay Packers his whole life, through thick and thin. He had a great sense of humor and was happiest when he was laughing with friends and family over good food and a good bottle of wine. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.
Kim is survived by his loving wife, Ann and daughter and son-in-law, Hallie and John Franco of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his granddaughter, Evelyn Franco; his brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Janet Burger of Luverne, Minnesota; and his sister-in-law, Lois Burger of Lincoln, Nebraska; and sister-in-law Sue Garn of Payson, Arizona; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche Burger, his brother, Alan Burger, and his brother, Gary Burger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Methodist Hospital ICU for their diligent care and compassion. Memorial donations may be given to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha.
