September 19, 1919 - September 19, 2011
Of Odebolt and Early, Iowa. Born in Sigourney, Iowa to Albert and Alta Korf, Margaret passed away in Omaha under the loving care of daughter, Sandra "Kay" Brockman Clanton and son, Mike Brockman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Slater, an educator and Iowa farmer; daughter, Joan Dee (JoDee) Brockman-Rottler of Des Moines, IA; sister, Mildred O'Brien (Frank, dec.) of Omaha, NE and brother, Joseph Jay (JJ) Korf (Gertrude, dec.) of Cedar Rapids. Margaret was a devout woman of faith. Through the years she led various bible studies, sang in the church choir, was an active leader and member of PW-Presbyterian Women and her hometown church, First Presbyterian of Odebolt, Iowa. Her passions were reading, music, writing, nature and sports, but above all else, she loved her family and friends. Many were the recipients of her handwritten notes and letters of thanks, encouragement and correspondence-just to stay in touch. She lived a Christ-centered life with prayer and the bible as the foundation. In addition to her daughter and son, Margaret is survived by son-in-law, Steven Rottler (JoDee, dec.) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Vicki Clanton-Overby (Brian) of Lake Mary, FL; Cheryl Clanton-Tanner (Tom) of Phoenix, AZ; Mark Clanton (Tricia) of Lincoln, NE; Ben Rottler (Ellie) of San Francisco, CA; Christopher Rottler (Henny) of Des Moines, IA; Jesse Brockman (Erin) of Berkeley, CA; 12 great-grandchildren and many dear neighbors and friends.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 24th at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, Iowa, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Odebolt Public Library or the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt.
