Born October 18th, 1957, Mark Allan Vavra spent his life instilling in his family and community that “we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” And he believed that with his whole heart. He was a man who could make any person feel important and valued. When he left this earthly planet to return to Heaven on February 13, 2026, he left behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Cindy Vavra (Dawson), his daughters Hope Zortman (Vavra) and Kayla Vavra, his sons-in-law Nick Zortman and Cary Clark; his beloved puppies, Bentley and Cubby Bear; his sister Lori Lirette (Vavra) and brother-in-law Joe Lirette; his brothers Steve Vavra, Kevin Vavra, and Todd Vavra and sisters-in-law Michaela Vavra (Hrdy) and Teri Vavra (Germolik); his brothers-in-law Donald Mather, Richard Dawson and Al (William) Christensen; his sisters-in-law Dixie Mather (Dawson) and Gail Christensen (Dawson); and his many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank J Vavra and Shirley R Vavra (Roads), and his beloved in-laws Richard Dawson and Billie Anna Dawson (Molloy); and many beloved pets.
As a man of both miracles and mirth, Mark worked hard in between his adventures climbing mountains, playing with his puppies, fishing, and watching sunsets over lakes. He’d tell you that as long as you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can grow the most amazing things. He went on to prove his beliefs time and time again as his body, heart, and mind overcame health challenges bigger than those mountains he climbed.
