He was a beloved father, brother, son, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Matt was born on February 6, 1976 in Omaha, Nebraska where he spent his formative years. He attended Millard South High School, later joining the United States Marine Corps Reserves. His annual training in the Marine Corps allowed him to travel across the country, including Hawaii and Alaska.
He was a maintenance mechanic and electrician for many years where he was known for his hard work and dedication. He loved to pass on his skills and knowledge to younger workers and was a patient mentor to many.
More than anything, Matt was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his kids. He spent time teaching them car repair and watching movies together. He was always there to offer guidance and encouragement no matter the circumstances.
Matt loved his nephews as well. He shared his knowledge of the outdoors and physical fitness with them. He was very patient, teaching them to fish and camp when they were young. He was also always willing to share his boxing expertise.
In his free time, he enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, lifting and running. Not to forget the casual work he did on his cars and motorcycles.
Matt’s memory is continued by his mother, Bernice Iddings; his children, Connor and Kalen Iddings; his brothers, Mark [Thelma] and Mike Iddings; his sister, Jenny Iddings [Jason Wilke]; his nephews, Jaan Iddings, Gabe Wilke, and A.J. Guevara; and his former wife, Amy Iddings. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Iddings.
A graveside service for Matt will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park (5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106), with a reception to follow.
